MAYOR BIONDI DECLARES LOCAL-EMERGENCY ORDER (SNOW) - January 26, 2015 - 10:00 a.m. -Mastic Beach, NY 11951 - Mayor William Biondi, pursuant to the powers vested in him by the Code of the Incorporated Village of Mastic Beach and Section 24 of the New York State Executive Law, has declared that in order to preserve the public safety and property of the Village residents, the Village of Mastic Beach is declared under a STATE OF EMERGENCY. In accordance with Section 500-1, no person, being the owner or operator of a motor vehicle, shall permit said motor vehicle to remain on any street affected by an emergency due to snowfall, flood, fire or other extraordinary condition affecting the normal flow of traffic. Further, the accumulation of more than two inches of snow or ice as a result of a snowstorm, hail, sleet, flood, etc., shall be deemed notice to all persons that a state of emergency, as referred to above, exists. PARKING ON ALL STREETS IN THE VILLAGE OF MASTIC BEACH SHALL BE PROHIBITED. The hours during which such parking shall be prohibited may be posted by the Village Clerk at her office. In the event that no such hours have been posted or announced, said prohibition of parking shall continue for a period of 24 hours from the cessation of the occurrence causing the accumulation of snow and ice. This Order shall be effective IMMEDIATELY and shall remain in effect until removed by further order of the Mayor. Failure to obey this Order is a criminal offense, punishable by law under New York State Executive Law, Section 24(5).

All available Village snow-plowing resources continue to operate. Additionally, twelve trucks from the New York State Department of Transportation have been deployed in the Village. Those residents living near the water endured high tides and, during times of high water levels, snow-plowing operations were temporarily halted. As of this writing, approximately 98% of the Village's roadways are open following the recent blizzard. Residents are reminded the Mayor's emergency declaration remains in effect. In accordance with Section 500-1, PARKING ON ALL STREETS IN THE VILLAGE OF MASTIC BEACH SHALL BE PROHIBITED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE BY THE VILLAGE. The Mayor and Board of Trustees appreciate the cooperation of Village residents, and commend the dedicated efforts of all those employees and external resources who continue to work diligently during the storm clean-up. Additionally, recycling pick-up for today has been suspended. Quickway Sanitation has advised us that they will pick-up recyclables on Saturday.
