COASTAL FLOOD WATCH and
HIGH SURF ADVISORY
According to the National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flooding Watch is in effect from 6:00 AM Thursday, October 1st until 6:00 PM Friday, October 2nd. Conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop. Coastal Residents should be alert for later statements or warnings and take action to protect property.
The National Weather Service at Upton has issued a High Surf Advisory in effect until 6:00 PM EST Friday, October 2nd. High surf will affect beaches producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
Wires may go down in storms. If you see a downed wire PLEASE DO NOT GO NEAR THEM! Report downed wires immediately to PSEG at 1-800-490-0075 or by texting "OUT" to PSEGLI (773454). You will receive a confirmation that your outage has been submitted and will begin receiving ongoing updates as the status of your outage changes. This requires a one-time registration. To register text "REG" to PSEGLI (773454).
Please prepare for the possibility of Hurricane Joaquin making landfall through Monday. Please prepare by keeping plenty of food and water in your home as well as batteries in case of a power outage. Keep your cell phone fully charged, automobile filled with gas, and a bag packed with important papers in case of an extreme emergency.
