Relaxation

The calm, quiet beauty of the Village of Mastic Beach is awe inspiring.

Paradise Found.

No matter how you do it, relaxing in Mastic Beach Village is easy-peasy.  It's simple to get into the groove with sand beneath your feet, sun above your head and the sweet smell of saltwater in every breath.

Just “sitting on the dock of the bay” is a way of life in our Village.  Listening to the birds and cicadas on a hot day reminds our visitors and residents alike of summers from a bygone era.

Dinner parties on the boat or on the shore are a way of life in our coastal Village.  Great friends, both old and new, breaking bread by the sea is how locals spend their evenings in this wonderful Village.

This is the sort of place where children can enjoy an idyllic childhood and grownups can smile watching their children grow and flourish.

This place is different—and special.  It is the hidden gem of Long Island’s South Shore.

Recreation

Oh my! All the things we can do.

What to do?

HISTORY

Historical homes and Revolutionary museums dot the Mastic Beach landscape, and we invite you to visit these sites, including the William Floyd Estate, Fire Island National Seashore, The Manor of St. George, Smith Point County Park and Wertheim National Refuge, to name a few.

Adventure

One of the joys of a visit here is getting out into the fresh air. Surfing is a way of life and some of the finest waves, west of Montauk, can be found at Smith Point County Park.  If bay side, adrenaline sports are more your speed, try jet-skiing or windsurfing along the Great South Bay and see our Village coastline from a new, breathtaking perspective.  If the quiet pace is what you seek, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding are great ways to get in a workout while exploring the Village’s creeks.   For competitive athletes, the Smith Point Triathlon is held the first weekend in August.

Fishing AND Boating

A sport-fishing secret, our marinas are filled with pleasure boats heading out to catch “the big one.” With the Moriches Inlet just minutes to the east and the Great South Bay hugging our Village shoreline; anglers come home from their saltwater expeditions with fluke, bass, flounder and mako.

Nature Trails

Don’t miss the Fire Island Dune Walk starting at the Fire Island Otis Pike Ranger Station west of Smith Point County Park.  This trail meanders through shifting mountains of sand to the Bellport Inlet. The Wertheim Wildlife Refuge, the William Floyd Estate and South Haven County Park offer miles of hiking trails that go through various ecosystems and past kettle holes formed by glaciers during the Ice Age.

Art

For more than two centuries, Mastic Beach has been home to a vibrant community of artists and writers, lured by the refreshing breezes, radiant landscapes and enchanting light. It is a bohemian paradise for those looking for an out-of-the-way artist retreat.
