At a meeting of the Board of Trustees on April 18, 2017, Inspector Gerard McCarthy and COPE Officer Michael Casper announced a new Police-Department initiative known as "Operation Shield".
This program enables residents and business owners to register their contact information concerning security cameras located on their premises. In the event there is criminal activity in the general vicinity of the residents' and/or business owners' security cameras, the police will contact the camera owners and request to review the footage in question.
By working together, police representatives are hopeful this initiative will yield additional information to help solve crimes.
